SaskInteractive – Program Officer

The Program Officer will seek out, advocate for, and execute on programming opportunities for the creative interactive digital media industry in Saskatchewan. The programming opportunities delivered will fit within SaskInteractive’s strategic goals and be responsive to industry needs including:
  • Industry outreach & community building
  • Membership/industry support
  • Business training & entrepreneurial skills development
  • Industry research & market intelligence
  • Market development, presence, and access
The successful candidate will:
  • Meet with representatives of stakeholder organizations, businesses, students, and interactive media creators to listen to their needs and recommendations regarding interactive digital media in Saskatchewan.
  • Build partnerships with communities, business networks and local government that can benefit the interactive digital media industry.
  • Source funding and recruit interactive professionals to provide professional development and networking opportunities for SaskInteractive members.
  • Research trends, opportunities, funding, and programming options that are occurring in other jurisdictions across Canada and North America, and explore their potential for implementation in Saskatchewan.
  • Travel to events to ensure that SaskInteractive is educated about the latest advancements in policy, equipment, funding, platforms and strategies in the interactive digital media industry.
  • Share knowledge through briefings and one-on-one consultations with SaskInteractive’s members.
  • Share knowledge with emerging professionals by speaking to post-secondary students and those looking to enter the industry.
  • Create opportunities for interactive digital media professionals to network and do business with other industries.
  • Work with the Communications Coordinator on marketing strategies and planning.
  • Maintain and report program measurement data.
The Program Officer’s efforts are expected to result in the following outcomes (but not limited to):
  • Create opportunities for business partnerships, interactive platform knowledge, funding access, networking, and talent development to increase the commercial success of Saskatchewan interactive digital media products and companies.
  • Provide access to innovative ideas and proven financial models for creative interactive products to promote commercial viability and increased saleability.
  • Assist creative interactive digital media companies in becoming stronger through strategies such as education, diversification, investment attraction, export, and development of niche markets.
  • Increase the economic impact of the Saskatchewan creative interactive digital media industry through business growth.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate for this position will:
  • Have knowledge of and experience in the interactive digital media industry.
  • Be familiar with the business and marketing challenges of producing interactive digital media.
  • Have a desire to learn about trends in interactive digital media business models.
  • Have established local connections within the interactive digital media community.
  • Have experience in program creation, measurement, and delivery.
  • Have strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Be comfortable creating and delivering presentations to audiences.
  • Have experience in event promotion and coordination.
  • Have experience working at a non-profit organization and/or with a Board of Directors.
  • Be comfortable with frequent travel.
