FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Aug 23, 2017
Creative Saskatchewan is proud to announce the Interactive Digital Media Grant for Saskatchewan’s digital development professionals. The investments made through this program will propel the development of innovative, entertaining experiences on screens from tablets to VR headsets, while strengthening Saskatchewan’s digital economy.
“This first time grant program for interactive digital media is a great example of how Creative Saskatchewan is able to work with the creative industries,” Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Ken Cheveldayoff said. “Saskatchewan is home to some incredibly innovative and visionary developers working in interactive digital media, who will now have this new resource to help develop their projects and bring them to market.”
The Interactive Digital Media Grant invests in commercially viable, entertaining or educational, interactive experiences on digital devices. “This grant will spark interactive digital media innovation while contributing to economic growth through job creation and export activity,” said Thomas Archer, Executive Director of SaskInteractive. “SaskInteractive is proud to have worked closely with Creative Saskatchewan to develop this grant program on behalf of digital developers across the province.”
“The Interactive Digital Media grant is a strategic investment that provides Saskatchewan developers with a much-needed opportunity to create cutting edge, interactive entertainment product that can compete on the global market,” said Greg Magirescu, CEO of Creative Saskatchewan. “This is Creative Saskatchewan’s first investment in digital entrepreneurs and the creation of interactive digital media. We’re looking forward to seeing some remarkable projects and are excited for the opportunity to invest in them.”
Creative Saskatchewan is pleased to offer a “Fast Track” approval pathway to Interactive Digital Media Grant applicants. A project that has already secured an eligible investment from an approved source, including crowd funding, may be immediately approved. Applicants who have not secured such an investment can apply to the “Pitch Event” approval pathway, and may earn an opportunity to pitch their project to a panel of experts. Up to $75,000 per project is available. Applications are welcome effective immediately and will continue to be accepted as long as funds for the program remain available.
