Federal Funding to Help Saskatchewan Businesses

Some great news was released yesterday, when the Federal Government of Canada announced that it would be investing more than $11.5M on small and medium sized companies in Saskatchewan. The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages, who is responsible for Western Economic Diversification Canada made the announcement that the funding would be divested through the Business Scale-Up and Productivity Program (BSP).

Of note to our members, part of the BSP eligibility covers the digital interactive media sector! The “Digital Industries” covers digital and interactive media and industries that are innovating ways to capture and display digital information. You can learn more about the BSP here, including eligibility and application process information: https://www.wd-deo.gc.ca/eng/19762.asp

The goal of this funding is to help support businesses that are currently seeing high growth and help increase their capability to increase productivity, discover new markets and continually create growth and opportunities for the province. This program will also help businesses expand their global reach, helping them to break into global markets.

This is very exciting news for Western Canada and Saskatchewan! We have a lot of great businesses with ideas that range from biological seed treatment to online and retail sales platform innovations to athlete performance evaluation software and much more.
