RDIEC – Temporary Program Facilitator Position

Regina District Industry Education Council - Temporary Program Facilitator Applications are invited for a temporary 0.5 FTE Program Facilitator at Regina District Industry Education Council (RDIEC) commencing September 19, 2022 and ending June 30, 2023. The successful candidate must possess a Bachelor of Education degree and a valid Saskatchewan teacher’s certificate. RDIEC’s Mission is to create a community of shared responsibility in preparing youth for quality careers. The Program Facilitator is responsible for providing instructional leadership and specialized expertise in career education to students and teachers across the geographical area of RDIEC (Regina Public, Regina Catholic, Prairie Valley and File Hills Qu’Appelle Tribal Council) to improve opportunities and achievement for students, and to connect them with our various industry partners. The successful candidate will provide VR Program Facilitator services (50 days) and will also work to transition out current Program Facilitators (50 days). Key Responsibilities
  • Define the scope and sequence of program offerings in collaboration with the Executive Director and outside partners.
  • Facilitate Programming for RDIEC events in collaboration with current RDIEC.
  • Facilitate Virtual Reality programming for our rural and First Nations partners, including becoming familiar with, and becoming capable of fluently using, the CareerLabs Virtual Reality software package. Training will be provided to any successful candidate.
  • Be the primary programming contact for students, school divisions, postsecondary institutions, business, and industry.
  • Determine the objectives and measures (data) upon which the program will be evaluated at its completion.
  • Supervise RDIEC program events.
  • Provide a general report of progress on work plans for yearend reporting purposes.
  • Model appropriate safety protocols, and ensure students learn them (awareness) as they engage in RDIEC programming.
  • Provide accessible, timely and effective educational leadership and career development expertise to support students and classroom teachers
  • Build the capacity of classroom teachers using a variety of proactive, innovative, and effective professional development delivery techniques, including in-class modelling, collegial mentoring and coaching, professional reference materials and presenting at professional learning events
  • Stay current with career education developments, including Ministry of Education curricula, planned changes to curricula, research-based instructional strategies, assessment practices and integration of technology into instruction
  • Stay current with safety education legislation, certifications, and various requirements to enable easier access to trades and future careers for students.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • In depth knowledge of educational programming, curricula, assessment, and instruction
  • Ability to communicate and relate to youth is a definite asset
  • Excellent leadership, collaboration, and consultation skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and solution focused interaction
  • Excellent reporting skills through documentation and record keeping
  • Excellent technology skills, with a good foundational understanding of both Microsoft Office Suite and Google docs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Education or master’s degree in a related area
  • Minimum five years of teaching experience (preference will be given to a superannuated teacher)
  • A valid Criminal Record check, including a Vulnerable Sector check are mandatory
  • RDIEC is a LAFOIP organization. A solid understanding of the principles of LAFOIP are recommended
  • RDIEC supports the principles of diversity and inclusion. A solid understanding of equity and the importance of a representative workforce would also be an asset.
Working Conditions
  • Half-time, 10 months per year, 100 days maximum
  • Regular travel to schools within the three school divisions and one tribal council which RDIEC serves, and possible travel to Regina or Saskatoon for meetings using a fleet vehicle or personal vehicle
